The idea to build shelves that last was born out of a friendship in Dresden. Timeless design, modular concept, and honest craftsmanship.

The Bloks Story

We believe good design doesn't have to be loud. It should blend into everyday life, last a long time, and adapt to life. Not the other way around.

It was with this very idea in mind that we developed Bloks. A modular shelving system that can be expanded, reconfigured, and recombined at any time. Featuring a minimalist design, high-quality materials, and a construction that requires no tools.

Good Design

Behind Bloks are us, Steen and Artur. Artur is a trained carpenter and the developer of Bloks. He brings a deep understanding of materials, construction, and manufacturing. Steen is a communication designer and responsible for branding and design. He gives Bloks a clear visual identity and turns a good idea into a brand.

We met through our shared enthusiasm for timeless design. Industrial designer Dieter Rams, in particular, had a significant influence on us. His motto, "Good design is as little design as possible," still serves as a role model for us today and influences many decisions in the development of Bloks.

Working Responsibly

We are young, and no one knows exactly what the future holds. But one thing we do know for sure: We want to leave the generations after us the same opportunities and quality of life that we ourselves are privileged to experience. That's why we believe that good design should not only look good but also function for many years.

Many products today are developed for short life cycles. At the same time, it is often barely recognizable where they originate and who developed them. As a result, a certain appreciation is lost. Products become replaceable more quickly and are often replaced sooner. We want to take a different path – with products that tell a story, bring long-lasting joy, and can be used for many years.

Sustainability

For us, sustainability doesn't start with grand promises, but with good decisions.

That's why Bloks is made from 100% PEFC-certified MDF and robust stainless steel, which can be fully recycled at the end of its life cycle. Already during development, we made sure to minimize material waste. Through optimized planning, we utilize over 98% of the wood material used.

Just as important to us is durability. Bloks is not a shelving system that needs to be replaced when life changes. It grows with you, can be expanded, reconfigured, and recombined again and again. For us, a product that is used for many years is the most sustainable solution.

Efficient production with optimized offcuts

Our compact and efficient production enables us to optimally plan material usage. This way, we can utilize over 98% of the wood-based material used.

Regional Build-to-Order

Our modular system also gives us flexibility in manufacturing. We only produce a Blok once we know it is actually needed.

Sustainable Materials from Europe

Our materials originate in Europe and are assembled by us in Saxony. Our MDF is strictly PEFC-certified, and the stainless steel used can be recycled repeatedly without loss of quality.

Our Bloks are made from PEFC-certified, 19 mm thick medium-density fibreboard. Thanks to our conscious manufacturing process, we achieve outstanding material efficiency of 98%, thus conserving valuable resources.

The rods and accessories are made of stainless steel: extremely robust, scratch-resistant, and durable for a lifetime. Stainless steel can also be recycled infinitely often without any real loss of quality.

All our materials come from Europe, and we manufacture all components in cooperation with regional partners in Saxony.
